At Compliance One Group, a West Michigan code compliance firm, we take fire prevention and life safety preparedness very seriously. In conjunction with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), it is our goal to make every patient, student, resident, employee, system and building safe and prepared for unplanned disruptions. Together we celebrate Fire Prevention Week, October 8-14, 2017.
Fire Prevention Week is on record as the longest-running public health observance, according to the National Archives and Records Administration’s Library Information Center. The NFPA serves as the leading information and knowledge resource on fire, electrical and related hazards and has been the official sponsor of Fire Prevention Week since 1922 when the commemoration began.
President Calvin Coolidge proclaimed the first National Fire Prevention Week on October 4-10, 1925, beginning a tradition of the President of the United States signing a proclamation recognizing the occasion. The commemoration, observed on the anniversary of the Great Chicago Fire, began October 8, 1871. The horrific conflagration killed more than 250 people, left 100,000 homeless, destroyed more than 17,400 structures and burned more than 2,000 acres.
Join us this week as we help bring awareness to fire prevention. We’ll be sharing daily posts on fire prevention tips, offering a free webinar, and a sharing a quiz to test your knowledge.
