As part of an annual NFPA 80 Fire Door Inspection, the door frame to a labeled fire door needs to be inspected. Our inspectors continually find that one of the most common frame deficiencies in a fire rated door frame are holes caused by missing door silencers (aka DOOR BUMPERS).
Many frames have 3 holes in the latch side jamb that hold these small silencers. Many times, through normal use of the door, these silencers fall out and leave a hole, and when found by an inspector or surveyor, constitute a deficiency. These silencers are easily replaced with minimal cost and time. We encourage all facilities to take the Compliance One Door Silencer Challenge and pro-actively seek out these missing silencers and replace them!
